Unified Command reflects on clearing Key Bridge wreckage

When Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed, many thought the massive cleanup effort would take six months or more. It took just 11 weeks to re-open the Fort McHenry Federal Channel. The collaboration of federal, state and private agencies propelled the Key Bridge Response Unified Command to do what no one thought was possible. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Col. Estee Pinchasin and U.S. Coast Guard Capt. David O'Connell got the calls in the early morning hours of March 26, 2024, that a cargo ship hit the Key Bridge, sending it crashing into the Patapsco River.
