Several world leaders just signed something called the "Christchurch Call To Action", which is an agreement to work with the tech oligarchs to censor free speech online.
Justin Trudeau claims that he is going to craft a "digital charter" to combat "hate speech and misinformation". In other words, the Canadian government is going to decide what's true, and censor information they deem to be false or "hateful".
A special committee has been formed in Canadian Parliament to revive Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act, which allows citizens to be dragged before Human Rights Tribunals and charged with hate speech for content they publish online (such as on social media).
Morgane Oger, vice-president of the BC NDP, spoke in Parliament yesterday to the committee to recommend that the Internet be censored at the ISP (Internet Service Provider) level.
