The story opens with Chanakya having a dream about Samrat Chandragupt Maurya in the form of a lion and wakes up with a start. On the other hand, unawares of the danger lurking on Magadh, Samrat Bindusar is involved in games organized by Mir Khurasan and attended by Bindusar's mother Helena, wife Maharani Charumitra and Ugrasen. During the game, Bindusar is smitten by the beauty of Noor, Mir Khurasan, but does let her beauty get to his head, and wins the game. Mir Khurasan as a prize for winning the game, gives his command of his army, armory and his daughter's hand in marriage to Samrat Bindusar. Meanwhile, Acharya Chanakya getting the news understands the truth hidden behind the news and decides to warn Samrat Bindusar. Acharya Chanakya reaches Samrat Bindusar just in time and meets the Samrat before he leaves for a hunt, and tries to warn him. Samrat Bindusar does pay heed to the Acharya's advice and leaves for the hunt. The hunting party of Samrat Bindusar is attacked and the Samrat takes an arrow in his chest, and falls over the cliff into the river. Is Samrat Bindusar dead? Is this the end of the Magadh Empire?
