Super Taxi Driver (2000)

Title, menus and gameplay of "Super Taxi Driver", a low-budget Crazy Taxi clone for Microsoft Windows, developed by King Cab Team, published by Aludra Software and Hemming AG in 2000.

Quite fun for a little while thanks to the hilarious arcade-style driving physics—that is until you encounter the absolutely horrible collision detection that lets you smash into an invisible barrier around every tile of the map. Particularly noticeable in the video at 2:50 and in the last segment. Additionally, the game promises you bonus cars after beating certain levels, but you never get them. Could have been an okay title if not that unfinished.

There are a few bugs that I think have to do with running the game on a modern system. Often, passengers start out in exactly the same spot at the beginning of a stage, and also have identical first destinations. Plus, the music sometimes restarts, and has volume fluctuations. I remember none of these problems from playing the game when it came out. Also, sorry for the frame counter showing in some shots, I don't know why that happened; and this is recorded from the European Multi-5 release, that's why there is a Hemming logo while the voiceover says Aludra.
