Synopsis:
Young teacher Xiao Juan arrives at Xiu Garden, the mountain estate of Liu Xiongwu in Xifeng Town, to tutor his young son, Xiao Wu. At the same time, Liu’s eldest son, Dawen, also returns home. In the ancestral hall, Xiao Juan sees a portrait of her aunt Yujie—Liu’s late wife. Years ago, in order to seize a pair of rare treasures, the Han Jade Discs, Liu murdered Xiao Juan’s father and deceived Yujie, later imprisoning her and faking her death.
Dawen, Yujie’s biological son, has returned seeking revenge. By chance, Xiao Juan discovers the secret passage where Yujie is imprisoned. Yujie asks Xiao Juan to bring her the jade discs—but they are discovered, and the treasure falls into Liu’s hands. In the end, both Liu and his son are poisoned. Xiao Juan escapes the manor with little Xiao Wu.
