Baltimore Gas and Electric's residential rate payers could get some relief under a state Senate proposal. Lawmakers are working on an Energy Hardship Credit that would be rolled into a package of energy bills poised to soon reach the governor's desk. The Senate's bill would provide rebates to BGE residential customers using money from an account that utilities pay into as a penalty for not meeting renewable energy requirements. That currently contains $318 million. The Senate plan proposes to make payments to BGE customers in two installments that would be applied to customers' bills during peak energy use in the summer and winter. How much rebate money customers can expect has yet to be decided.
