Port traffic to rebound to pre-bridge collapse levels

The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge paralyzed the Port of Baltimore, one of the busiest container ports in the country. Mark Schmidt, president of Ports America Chesapeake, the company that runs Seagirt Marine Terminal, was one of the first to learn of the bridge collapse. It was struck by the Dali container ship, which had just left Seagirt. The impact of the collapse on the port was immediate. Ten vessels were trapped in the harbor, and no ships could get in. The port lost cargo ship traffic — inbound and outbound — for 11 weeks.
