Steam 2004 - Half-Life 2 Retail Disc Install and Gameplay

Inspired from XJR9000.
To celebrate Half-Life 2's 20'th birthday, i have decided to make this video public where i am showcasing our WIP Steam Emulator that we are working on. Footage you see was originally filmed and posted on Half-Life 2's 19'th birthday and unfortunately my VM doesn't like HL2 for some reason, hence the BSOD at the end. The note below is from 2023, i had this video unlisted for couple of reasons as we are still developping the emulator and discord group made for it is only focusing on the development of it, hence why a discord link or links to this emulator will not be provided. Please do not ask how to get the emulator or links to the discord.

I recently bought a boxed HL2 copy (EU DVD Disc) and it was time to see if we could play Securom protected game with original disc and results are in the video.

Few words to the dev team and contributors, thanks to you and all your efforts, these kind of events can be emulated and be replayed. I never had the chance to see 2004 Steam let alone having the original disc copies of HL2 back then. In this way, at least i can imagine this was the route that everybody had to take to activate and play HL2 when it released. Thank you all you amazing people to preserve a huge chunk of the history and my personal 3rd favourite game (1st being CS and second being HL). Lots and lots of love to you all
