Las Vegas is a comedy-drama television series that originated in the United States, created by Gary Scott Thompson. The show aired on NBC from September 22, 2003, to February 15, 2008, spanning five seasons. It revolves around a group of individuals employed at the Montecito, a fictitious hotel and casino on the renowned Las Vegas Strip. The series delves into the various challenges faced by the staff, encompassing subjects ranging from casino security to restaurant management and valet services. Notable cast members of Las Vegas include James Caan, Josh Duhamel, Nikki Cox, James Lesure, Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims, Marsha Thomason, and Tom Selleck. Initially, the storyline primarily focused on Ed Deline (played by Caan), a stringent former CIA agent who served as Montecito's operations president. Later, former Marine Danny McCoy (played by Duhamel), mentored by Ed, assumed the role of Montecito's new president.

Production for the pilot episode commenced in March 2003, with a substantial budget of $5 million, rendering it the most costly pilot in NBC's history. Filming for the entire season commenced later that year, primarily at Culver Studios in California, where a meticulously crafted set replicated the Montecito. Occasional filming also transpired in Las Vegas, with The Mandalay Bay and Green Valley Ranch hotels and casinos in the Las Vegas Valley occasionally serving as Montecito's visual representation.

Las Vegas marked Caan's inaugural leading role in a television series. Thomason opted to depart after the second season to pursue alternative projects, while Caan and Cox exited in 2007 upon completing the fourth season. Caan desired to rekindle his acting career, while Cox's departure from budgetary constraints necessitated the greenlighting of the fifth season. Following Caan's departure, Selleck was introduced as a new character. The series initially aired on Monday nights but was later shifted to Friday nights in 2006, resulting in a decline in ratings. Ultimately, Las Vegas was canceled on February 20, 2008, leaving the series with numerous unresolved cliffhangers.
