Evolution of Highly Demanding PC Games, 1990-2023

Just for fun. Wanted to make an evolution video of DEMANDING PC GAMES from 1990 to 2023. It's impossible to accurately nail MOST DEMANDING PC GAMES so I just settled for HIGHLY DEMANDING. All games were recorded by me on a 7900XT in their highest possible resolution with settings maxed out. Frame Gen and FSR was used for 2020 upwards. The RECOMMENDED SPECS and BENCHMARK FPS/RESOLUTION are there to be informative and to show people that RECOMMENDED SPECS often mean nothing.

RULES/STIPULATIONS (solely to keep things interesting and "fair"):
•No back to back sweeping (e.g. Crysis 2007 to 2009).
•No early access (e.g. Star Citizen, Escape from Tarkov)
•Enhanced editions and remasters allowed if base edition didn't win in prior history (e.g. Metro Exodus in 2021 not 2019)
•No 3D/VR (e.g. HL: Alyx)
•No DLC/Expansions (e.g. Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty)
•Adjusted for poor optimization (e.g. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in 2016, PUBG in 2017)

METHODOLOGY:
Based on a compilation of research including the big box PC case itself, system requirements on archived readmes and websites from developers, and forum discussions with benchmarks during their respective eras. This is essentially a list of highly (often at times most) demanding games based on reputation and recommended requirements while adjusted for poor optimization. All games were recorded in their highest resolution and running on the original released base format (e.g. Doom 3 original over Doom 3 BFG, Crysis original over Crysis remastered, Quake 1/2 original over Quake 1/2 enhanced, Witcher 3 DX11 over DX12 for 2015, base Unreal over Unreal Gold, etc).
