Until leaving the club in 2021, he had spent his entire professional career with Barcelona where he won 34 trophies, including 10 La Liga titles, 7 Copa del Rey titles and the UEFA Champions League 4 times. After leaving Barcelona, he played 2 seasons for PSG, where he won two French titles. With his country, he won the 2021 Copa América and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in histoy, Messi has won the Ballon d'Or eight times and the European Golden Shoe six times.
Diego Maradona was an Argentinian professional football player, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.
He played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla, and Newell's Old Boys during his club career. His time at Napoli was the most prolific, there he won the most trophies and led the club to win the Serie A title twice. An advanced playmaker who operated in the classic number 10 position, Maradona's vision, passing, ball control, and dribbling skills were incredible. Maradona was the first player to set the world record transfer fee twice: the first time when he transferred to Barcelona for £5 million, and the second time when he transferred to Napoli for £6.9 million.
Maradona played for Argentina where he scored 34 goals in 91 matches. He played in four FIFA World Cups, including the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, where he led Argentina to victory over West Germany in the final. He also won the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player.
Maradona was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA Player of the 20th Century and also won an Honorary Ballon d'Or.
