[Dr. Bernard Perron]
Bernard Perron is Full Professor of Film and Game Studies at Université de Montréal. He has among others coedited The Video Game Theory Reader 1 & 2, The Routledge Companion to Video Games Studies as well as Video Games and the Mind. Essays on Cognition, Affect and Emotion. He has edited Horror Video Games: Essays on the Fusion of Fear and Play. He has also written Silent Hill: The Terror Engine and The World of Scary Video Games: A Study in Videoludic Horror. His research concentrates on video games, the horror genre, interactive cinema, and on narration, cognition, and the ludic dimension of narrative cinema.
[Dr. Ewan Kirkland]
Ewan Kirkland has published extensively on videogame, particularly focusing on survival horror and the Silent Hill series. Exploring such issues as storytelling, self-reflexivity, gender, genre and psychoanalysis, Ewan’s work has appeared in Games and Culture, Convergence, Gothic Studies and Camera Obscura. Routledge Advances in Game Studies recently published Ewan’s study exploring the influence of Gothic literature on contemporary videogames, which included chapters on BioShock, Gone Home, What Remains of Edith Finch and Night in the Woods. As a Senior Lecturer in Critical Studies at the University for the Creative Arts, Ewan teaches cultural theory to games designers, graphic novelists and concept artists.
[Dr. Dawn Stobbart]
Dawn Stobbart completed her doctorate at Lancaster University and is currently focusing on how videogames function in a trans and intermediary capacity for her second monograph. She has fingers in many pies, including queer studies, cultural studies, and media studies, as well as a focus on horror and the Gothic that bleeds into everything she does. She has an interest in contemporary Media, and especially in looking at how narrative translates to videogames.
[Mr. Richard Rouse III]
Richard Rouse III is a creative director, designer, and writer who has worked on a range of titles from AAA to indie and everything in between. He is the Studio Creative Director at FarBridge currently working on dark new games. Past projects include The Suffering, State of Decay, The Church in the Darkness, Damage Incorporated, and Odyssey: The Legend of Nemesis. Previously he was a Design Director/Lead at Microsoft Studios, Ubisoft Montreal, Midway and Surreal Software. Rouse wrote the popular book Game Design: Theory & Practice and is a frequent speaker on game design and interactive storytelling at conferences and universities.
