Ukraine’s elite 3rd Assault Brigade arrive in Avdiivka to defend crucial coke plant

Ukraine has rushed badly-needed reinforcements to Avdiivka to stop a Russian breakthrough. Elite 3rd Assault Brigade troops were filmed attacking Putin’s men near a crucial coke plant which is located along a supply route leading north out of the city. Video shows soldiers charging into battle using an American-made MRAP assault vehicle, dodging explosions while opening fire with a .50 calibre machine-gun. Meanwhile more footage taken from behind Russian lines showed bombs hitting the plant and Ukrainian troops sheltering inside the badly-damaged complex, which has been under heavy attack for months as Putin’s generals try to take the city. The battle for Avdiivka is now at a key stage - if Russia can take the plant then it has a good chance of surrounding Ukrainian forces in the town and seizing it. However, if the Ukrainians can keep the supply road open then they may be able to hold on to the strategic defensive point, and stop the Russians advancing further.
