Full game longplay of Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, an action-adventure Xbox game based on the first book in the Tolkien's trilogy, NOT the first movie from Peter Jackson. Released as the original version on the Xbox in September 2002. The other ports to PC and PS2 were all made by different studio and (correct me if I'm wrong) on a different version/whole engine altogether. This being the best/most expansive version of the game. Played on a real Xbox hardware in a real widescreen/16:9, though with vert- implementation. Recorded in full 4K30 for the best quality/codec.
Note: the video might be a bit too dark, should have brightened it up in OBS, apologies. Do use the "enhancer for youtube" add-on for Chrome, it lets you set brightness/gamma/contract however you want it.
Quick review: Not the best game around, at all, but it's actually lore heavy, and gets many more things right than the Jackson's trilogy did, the game is entirely based on the book, so do not be surprised when the characters don't look like they do in movie trilogy, and also if some characters appear that you haven't seen in the movies, like Tom Bombadil. A must have for LOTR fans out there, but overall a mediocre game, with good and heavy lore, with bad combat, and sweaty gameplay. (I actually did use cheats for health in some places in the second part of the game, as the game just kept throwing endless hordes of enemies, and with the combat/hitboxes so bad? I didn't feel bad, no sir, at all. Combat is the worst aspect of the game, and unfortunately it's the most important one)
Quick summary of the start of the plot:
The game begins with Gandalf visiting Frodo and explaining the significance and history of the Ring. Frodo suggests it be destroyed, and Gandalf explains only the fires that created it are powerful enough to do so; the fires of Mount Doom, deep in Mordor. As Gandalf cannot take the Ring himself, for fear it would corrupt him, Frodo volunteers to do so. An eavesdropping Samwise Gamgee volunteers to join Frodo and Gandalf agrees, telling them they must head to Rivendell and speak to Elrond. He also tells Frodo never to use the Ring, as to do so will begin to corrupt him, and will draw the attention of Sauron and the Nazgûl. On the night of Frodo's departure, a Nazgûl arrives in The Shire looking for the Baggins' home. Frodo is able to evade the Nazgûl and heads to meet Sam, whom he finds accompanied by Peregrin "Pippin" Took and Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck. Much to Frodo's surprise they know about the Ring and Sauron, as they have been spying on Bilbo, Frodo and Gandalf for years. They vow to join Frodo on his quest.
