She was born as Sarah Marianne Corina Lewe in Germany as daughter to an advertising writer from New Orleans and his wife a fashion model with Scottish, Irish and German heritage. Sarah grew up listening to R&B and soul music inspired by her grandfather, a former jazz and R&B pianist in New Orleans. Her first experience in the gospel field came in a church choir at the age of 6. In 1997 she was picked to sing in the backing choir for Michael Jackson during his HIStory tour in Bremen. Sarah soon begun to send out demo-tapes and was later signed to a record deal.

In 2001 she released her debut single 'Let's get back to bed - boy!' with rapper TQ and scored her first huge charthit with #2 in Germany and even Top 20 in the UK. Her 3rd single 'From Sarah With Love' then became her first #1 single, topping the charts in Germany, Poland, Portugal and Switzerland. Her debut album 'Green Eyed Soul' sold very well and was certified triple-gold in Germany and reached #2 in the album charts, as well as Top 5 in Switzerland, Austria and Poland.

Her 2nd album 'Unbelievable' released in 2002 reached Top 10 in Germany as well. With her 3rd album 'Key To My Soul' (2003 released) Sarah started a series of #1 singles - 4 consecutive singles from November 2003 to March 2005 all topped the German single charts and the album 'Naughty but nice' also reached #1 in the German album charts in 2005 and was certified platinum (as was Key to my soul). After two special albums (Christmas and the cover-versions) she released her 6th album 'Sexy as Hell' in 2008 (#3 in Germany) and in 2010 'Real Love'.

After a longer hiatus she returned in 2015 and for the first time her songs were in German: With 'Wie schön du bist' (How beautiful you are) Sarah scored her 12th Top 5 hit in the German single charts (peaked at #2), it was certified triple gold. Her album 'Muttersprache' (mother language) became her commerically most successful album to this date - it topped the German album charts, was certified 11-times gold and sold over a million units.

Then in 2019 Sarah released her next album 'Herz Kraft Werke' (heart power work - also Kraftwerk = power station) which reached #1 in the first week after its release at the end of May. Sarah Connor has sold well over 7 million albums altogether and is one of the most successful German singers of the 21st century.

Her newest Christmas-themed album 'Not So Silent Night' was released in November and once again topped the German album charts.
