During the Second World War, the city of Leningrad suffered heavily as it was besieged for over 800 days and inside of the city over 1 million people succumbed to the horror. But following the end of the conflict, there was a series of executions of German soldiers and war criminals who had caused chaos across the Soviet Union. Each of those who were condemned had been found guilty of being involved in the slaughter across the Soviet Union, with villages being burned to the ground and civilians being executed.
The German Army caused chaos across the Soviet Union, but inside of Leningrad thousands of people flocked to see the executions of the 8 war criminals. This included a German General, and they were paraded in front of the crowds before they were secured to the gallows with the noose, and then trucks drove off and the men were executed. To the people of Leningrad who suffered greatly during the conflict they believed revenge had been had slightly.
