VAR to offer live explanations of decision making at WWC | FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

Chairman of FIFA Referees Committee Pierluigi Collina said on Tuesday during a press conference that live explanations of VAR fecisions by referees will "give more transparency and more understanding" to decisions made by match officials.

Collina said the referees will be expected to announce VAR-related decisions to the audience during 2023 Women's World Cup matches.

The rule will be implemented for the first time at a major tournament, following a trial used earlier this year at the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco and the Men's U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
