After the match against Sweden and the failure to reach the World Cup 2018, the legend of football Gianluigi Buffon quit the national team after 20 years.

Gianluigi Buffon was born in Carrara (Italy) on January 28th, 1978. He is one of the best goalkeepers of the history of football.

He played 168 matches with Parma between 1995 and 2001 (winning a Uefa Cup and Italy Cup in 1998-99 and an Italian Supercup in 1999) and 496 matches with Juventus as of november 13th, 2017 (winning 8 Serie A titles, 3 Italy cups, 5 Italy Supercups, 1 Serie B title).

With the Under-21 national team he won the European championship in 1996.

With the Italian national team he is the most capped player in history (175 caps, 79 of which as captain). He won the World Cup 2006 in Germany.
