With their World Cup finals place secured earlier in the day with Romania losing to Northern Ireland, England celebrate in style by thrashing Turkey 5-0 at Wembley in a qualifier in October 1985. England had beaten the Turks 8-0 the previous November and a repeat scoreline looks possible with a dominant first half, that brings a tremendous Chris Waddle solo goal, two Gary Lineker headers and a Bryan Robson effort. The second half sees things quieten down a bit but Lineker complete his first England hat-trick on a night when his side's attacking qualities are clear to see.
