Mean Roosters - Chicken Behavior

Aggressive roosters can happen in any breed, including Polish. This video was made using American Gamefowl because I just happened to have a human aggressive rooster in that breed. From time to time videos on this page will involve other breeds to illustrate a point.

I'd like to update the info to touch on a few points brought about in the comments. #1 Thank you to those who were asking, but this is not a "for sale" ad for my roosters. So I will refrain from answering any inquiries about them. #2 Some have commented that I was "kicking" the bird. Look at the video in slow motion and you'll see I was using my leg and boot as a means to keep distance between the bird and myself, not kicking him. The rooster will generally attack whatever is closest to him -as illustrated by the use of the black bucket. #3 Some aggression in roosters is normal and healthy, but like all behaviors in all species sometimes things go awry. It is my opinion that as breeders of livestock, pets or poultry we have a responsibility to try to prevent traits like this from becoming more frequent.
