Grand Designs | SUMMERHOUSE (Cosy House Building Game)

SUMMERHOUSE is a lovely laid back game about building little houses in a gorgeous pixel art style. There are no rules, no restrictions, no timers, we can just take our time and build nice things and it is absolutely marvellous!

There are four different environments to build in, such as a desert area or at the edge of a lake, and then we get to construct things with all sorts of different building blocks.

There are many different types of wall, loads of doors, all sorts of windows, trees, rocks and, importantly, lots and lots of decoratives! Plants, air conditioning units, flags, laundry, fences, bins, signs, posters, awnings, vending machines, there are so many decoration items and it is glorious.

We then go a bit off script and attempt to build something using the games random feature, which just gives us random items to build with. One time it could be a tree, then it could be a door, then a postbox, then a set of steps! And do you know what? We create something which is kind of fun!

SUMMERHOUSE is a small-scale building game and a love letter to the feeling of long lost summer afternoons.

Craft a neighbourhood of tiny, beautiful lived-in homes in a variety of settings: the sea, the city, or the mountains. While there are some little secrets to uncover, there are no rules, and you can’t win or lose. Just chill out, build to your heart’s content and soak up the atmosphere.
